Billy Idol ~ Promises Promises

The first[last?] lot make a few mistakes They didn't die young, they got big waists We got let down at the back of Earls Court [+And?] We sware that night we'd never get caught Cos we were smarter than they were (they were) We started out with guitars and hate With our rooms in the clouds we could hardly wait Our legs apart, our amps up high The stage caught fire (then?) the charts blew up And we play more than they do (they do) Promises Promises Do you remember the promises promises - I do- Do you remember the promises promises - I do- We made our shirts with sprays and knives Then we saved up for weeks for Malcolm's strides Our hair was short we said what we thought We'd never be scared [we'd] never be bought Never sell out like they did - they did Promises Promises Do you remember the promises promises - I do- Do you remember the promises promises - I do- Soon you'll get your gear form Marks and Sparks Punk'll take over Top of the Pops Think you're having a real cool time? Watch out kid you're next in line - Oh Yeah Do you remember the promises promises - I do- Do you remember the promises promises - I do- Where were you in '75 when there weren't no gigs and we were jive (Promises promises promises remember) No one gave a shit for our Rock'n'Roll dream R men laughed re-release the Cream (Promises promises promises remember) And they thought we were stupid And they thought we were stupid And we promised we'd get back get back Do you remember the Promises Promises Do you remember the Promises Promises What I do, what I do, what I do, what I do, I do, I do, what I do, what I do Promises promises promises remember Promises promises promises remember Promises promises promises remember Promises promises promises remember Promises promises promises remember Promises promises promises remember Promises promises promises remember Promises promises promises remember Promises promises promises remember more free lyrics

Globalized Sounds

Today, beautiful European and American music, an Afrobeats recorded in Lagos, can play in headphones in Tokyo; a South Korean idol group can fill an Argentine stadium to capacity. On Spotify, the playback volume of African music has increased by 500% in five years; K-pop has already transcended the Asian border and become a common language for young people all over the world; Latin music has consistently topped the streaming charts for several consecutive years. The world is getting smaller while the scope of music is expanding.

The Power of the Scene

When the lights dim and the first note is played, strangers become synchronized. The tremor when thousands sing together, and the melody that still echoes after the crowd disperses - this is an experience that no screen can convey. We look forward to the return of large-scale concerts to the essence of music, and we also look forward to small livehouses continuing to nourish the most vibrant soil of music.

Crossing Borders

Music transcends languages - even if you don't understand the lyrics, you can still shed tears or dance. It transcends cultures - the drumbeats of Nigeria and the chants of Iceland coexist under the same sky. It transcends generations - a song from half a century ago can still bring tears to the eyes of today's young people.

We Create Together

The future of global music is not determined by algorithms, nor is it monopolized by a few giants. It is shaped by every person who presses the play button. Maintain your curiosity, step out of your comfort zone. Support independent musicians and attend live performances. Seek connections through music - because we believe that a song can change a day, and music can change the world.
